Privacy Policy

InterTwined is built by SampaTek Labs LLC. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do.

What stays on your device

All your project data — row progress, sections, counters, pattern notes, and PDF documents — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We never upload your projects, your progress, or your PDFs to our servers.

What we send to the AI

When you extract a pattern, the text content of your PDF is sent to Anthropic's commercial API for analysis. This is necessary to identify sections, row counts, sizing, and stitch math.

Anthropic's API automatically deletes all inputs and outputs within 7 days.
API data is never used for model training — this is Anthropic's commercial API policy.
No AI company is learning to create patterns from your PDFs.

When you ask the AI assistant a question about your pattern, the question and relevant pattern context are sent to Anthropic's API under the same terms.

Anonymous telemetry (opt-in)

You can choose to share anonymous usage metrics by enabling "Share Anonymous Data" on the Credits screen. This is off by default. When enabled, we collect three types of data:

1. Extraction metrics

Sent once per extraction. Includes:

Pattern name (e.g., "Slip Knit Socks") — so we can purchase patterns that score poorly and improve the extraction engine
Extraction quality scores and dimension breakdowns
Error types and categories
Pattern category (e.g., "sweater", "hat") and craft type
Parser hit rates (which detection features fired)
Token usage and extraction duration (cost metrics)

2. Row flags

Sent when you swipe a row and flag it as incorrect. Includes:

Section name and row number
The flagged instruction text (first 200 characters) — this is the only place we collect any pattern text, and only for the specific row you flagged
Flag category (wrong stitch, wrong count, row boundary issue, missing row, or other)
Your optional comment
Which tracker mode you were using

This is how we learn exactly where extractions break. Without the instruction text, a flag that says "row 47 is wrong" tells us nothing actionable.

3. Completion ratings

Sent when you finish a pattern and rate the extraction (thumbs up or down). Includes:

Your rating and optional comment
Section count, total rows, and how many rows you flagged
How many days you spent on the project

We do not collect your full PDF content, full pattern instructions, personal information, device identifiers, or anything that identifies you. The only pattern text we receive is the specific row instruction you choose to flag — and only if you have telemetry sharing turned on.

Ravelry integration

If you connect your Ravelry account, we use Ravelry's OAuth to authenticate you. We access your library to show your saved and purchased patterns. We do not store your Ravelry credentials — authentication is handled by Ravelry's servers.

Anonymous identifiers

The app generates an anonymous Firebase Authentication identifier at first launch. This is used solely to authenticate with our pattern library and storage services. It is not linked to your name, email, or any personal information. We do not use this identifier for tracking or advertising.

Purchases

Credit pack purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information. Purchase history is managed by Apple's App Store.

Pattern library

The curated pattern library is hosted on Google Firebase (Firestore). When you browse or import patterns from the library, your device communicates with Firebase to retrieve pattern metadata and PDF files. No personal data is sent during this process.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data to anyone.
We don't show ads.
We don't track you across apps or websites.
We don't use device fingerprinting.
We don't collect your name, email, or location unless you contact us directly.

Data retention

Your local project data persists until you delete it. Telemetry data (if opted in) is retained in aggregate form. Anthropic API logs are deleted within 7 days per their commercial policy.

Children's privacy

InterTwined is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll note the date of the last update at the top of this page.
